Participating

What is a hackathon?

An event where you team up to build a project, like an app, a website, a game, or a hardware hack, in a short, fixed amount of time. It’s part competition, part crash course, and a lot of fun.

Who can join?

Any student who wants to build, at any skill level.

How much does it cost?

Nothing. Haxiom events are free for students, meals included. Sponsors and donors cover the costs.

Do I need coding experience?

No. Our beginner workshops and mentors will help you get started, even if you’ve never written a line of code.

Do I need a team or an idea?

No. Come solo and we’ll help you find a team at kickoff. We also share idea prompts if you want a starting point.

What should I bring?

A laptop, a charger, and anything else you like to build with. See What to bring for the short list.

What can I build?

Anything that fits the event’s rules: web and mobile apps, games, hardware, AI projects, and more. Projects are built during the event.

Parents and teachers

Is there a code of conduct?

Yes. Everyone at a Haxiom event, including participants, mentors, volunteers, sponsors, and organizers, agrees to follow our Code of Conduct.

Can parents and teachers volunteer?

Yes, we’d love the help. Choose Volunteer on our contact form and tell us how you’d like to help.

How do I reach the organizers?

Use our contact form. At an event, talk to any organizer.

Sponsors and partners

How can my company get involved?

Sponsor an event, fund a prize, run a workshop, or send engineers to mentor and judge. See Sponsors for the options.

Can we run a workshop?

Yes. Workshops are one of the best ways to put your tools in students’ hands. Tell us what you’d like to teach.

Do you accept in-kind donations?

Yes. Hardware, cloud credits, food, swag, and venue space all help. Contact us to arrange a donation.
